Professor George Philander hails from Cape Town South Africa and is currently a professor of Geosciences at Princeton University. Prof Philander is a world renowned ocean-atmosphere specialists and has made significant contributions to the understanding and modelling of large scale climate variability inkling the La Nina and other phenomena.
Professor Philander was the father of the ACCESS idea. Professor Philander is passionate abut education and the value of earth systems in inspiring young minds.
His current research interests are focused on paelo-climate and on the ice ages in particular.
